Glossary Term
PBN (Private Blog Network)
Last updated:
Quick definition: A PBN is a network of websites built or acquired solely to pass backlinks to a target site.
What it means
Private Blog Networks were popular in the early 2010s. Operators acquired expired domains, built thin sites on them, and used them to manipulate rankings of money sites.
Google has invested heavily in detecting PBN footprints (shared hosting, identical templates, low-quality content), and sites caught using them face severe penalties.
Why it matters for real estate SEO
PBN links create catastrophic risk: when detected, the target site can lose all rankings overnight. Sustainable real estate SEO uses real placements on real sites only.
