Glossary Term
Search Intent
Last updated:
Quick definition: Search intent is the underlying reason behind a query: informational, navigational, commercial, or transactional.
What it means
Informational intent ("how to choose a realtor") wants education. Commercial intent ("best Austin real estate agent") wants comparisons. Transactional intent ("homes for sale 78704") wants listings.
Matching content format to intent is the single biggest determinant of whether a page ranks.
Why it matters for real estate SEO
Mismatching intent (publishing a blog when users want a listing page) kills rankings even with perfect technical SEO. Always check the current SERP before writing.
