    Mobile-First Indexing

    Last updated:

Quick definition: Mobile-first indexing means Google predominantly uses the mobile version of a webpage for indexing and ranking, making mobile optimisation a ranking requirement rather than an option.

    What it means

Google rolled out mobile-first indexing globally in 2020. It does not mean Google ranks mobile pages higher; it means the mobile version is the version Google evaluates for everyone, including desktop searchers.

If content is missing from your mobile site (collapsed accordions, hidden navigation, lazy-loaded blocks that fail), Google may not see it at all.

Why it matters for real estate SEO

Real estate buyers research from phones at extremely high rates. Mobile sites with slow Core Web Vitals, broken IDX integrations, or hidden content lose rankings even when the desktop version looks polished.
